Statement Regarding COVID-19

Update Regarding the AHNS International Conference

Update provided Friday, March 20, 2020

A few of you have understandably asked whether the AHNS 10th International Conference will still be taking place this July in Chicago.  We wanted to confirm that we are not, at this time, postponing the conference.  Our statement, found below, remains the same.  We are sensitive to those of you who are hesitant to commit to attending and we will be looking at potentially extending our early bird registration date. In addition, if we do decide at a later date to cancel or postpone the meeting, we will of course either refund your registration or apply it to the new date, if those dates are convenient for you.  Again, we are hopeful and excited for this meeting, which is the accumulation of all the impactful work of our attendees.  If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to AHNS office.

Statement provided Friday, March 13, 2020

The American Head and Neck Society (AHNS) recognizes the continued and growing concern of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by this terrible virus. There have been a few questions regarding how this will impact our 10th Annual International Conference in July. The health, safety and well-being of our members and attendees are of paramount importance and per our mission, providing the best quality of care to our head and neck oncology patients is our primary concern.

The AHNS International Conference, July 18-22, 2020 in Chicago, Illinois, USA, is still scheduled to occur. There are no plans or discussions to cancel or postpone the conference at this time.

As you know, there are daily updates to the spread of this virus, and we are monitoring them through the CDC government web site.

We recognize that there are travel restrictions, especially for our international colleagues, and we will continue to monitor those as well. However, we want to reiterate that the conference is still scheduled to happen, and we are excited about all the educational and social offerings this meeting will provide.

We are committed to providing a safe and productive meeting for all attendees and please reach out to the AHNS office if you have additional questions.
